There are really no negatives about Wick, Karoline, and their team. We switched to them from a different realtor after many months of painful house hunting and it was like night and day. Everyone is super helpful and attentive; they will always find a way to get you what you need.

When we found the house that we eventually bought on a Friday, Wick went so far as to find a babysitter for their kids to show us the house that night, since we would be unavailable for the rest of the weekend and knew the house would be off the market by Monday. And his knowledge from his previous life as a contractor is in valuable.

All of this would have been enough for a 5-star review, but even after our transaction was complete the Ashley Realty team continues to impress! They have annual events for current and former clients and love fielding questions about fixes, renovations, and contractors. It's obvious that they don't just want you to find your perfect home, but to do whatever they can to help you keep it that way.

So in short, I can't recommend Ashley Realty enough!

We can't recommend Karoline and Wick enough! They consistently went above and beyond to help us through the process of buying our first house.

In particular, Wick was incredible as we considered (and ultimately decided to purchase) a short sale. He helped us determine where fixes were simply cosmetic versus structural and gave us the confidence we needed to buy. He and Karoline have both been extremely helpful recommending contractors to help with fixes and they do a wonderful job appreciating and staying connected with their clients. Karoline and Wick are of the highest caliber of realtors and the nicest people you'd ever want to meet. I've worked with them 3 times now from 2007 - 2014, once to buy a home, once to try to sell a home under terrifically difficult economic times, and again to sell said home.

This last one was exceptional as the other owner and I were not local, one of us overseas, and we had to place our complete trust in them.

It was well placed. They project managed getting the property in to sellable condition, taking on some risk themselves. It turned out lovely. Communciations went smoothly, even at times of 3 parties in separate time zones (one of us HQ'ed in Europe.)

I wish to add just a couple of comments to the favorable review submitted by my wife Karen earlier.

When we visited Portland in late January to search for a home, it was my very first time there. And, although we had been working with Karoline over the phone and through email for several months by now, I did not meet here until then.

Even though I knew of her stellar reputation from two daughters in Portland who, in recent months, had used her assistance, I was impressed from the git-go with her open and friendly manner, knowledge of both houses and neighborhoods, and her excellent communication skills. She, and as I learned later that week her husband Wick, are extremely good listeners, and they quickly become attuned to those aspects of neighborhoods and houses which the people they are assisting have identified as important.

We have also found the post-finding the right house experience very positive as well. Frankly, the process to date has been far more pleasant, efficient, and -- frankly -- speedy than I had anticipated.

Thoughtful, lighthearted, and sincere. These are three qualities that come to mind when I think of Wick and Karoline. On top of this, they just know their stuff. We felt supported by Wick and Karoline throughout the entire process of finding and buying our house.

We primarily worked with Wick, but it felt like we were working with a team. A very effective team, at that. And we never doubted that they had our best interests in mind.

Some specifics that come to mind:

They were willing to write offers for us on our timeline (i.e., weekend, evening, spur of the moment).
Even when we were obsessed with Redfin, and searching homes like crazy, Wick would still find us diamonds in the rough, so to speak. I feel like he really got to know us, so he could spot houses that could have been good fits for us, that we overlooked in our own searching.
Wick was always available via text message!

When you're on the hunt for a good realtor (or two), Karoline and Wick are just the ones that you're hoping to find!

I first started working with Karoline a couple of years ago when my husband and I were thinking about buying a house in Portland. Because we were slowly getting around to selling a condo in Vancouver, she was very low pressure and checked in occasionally to see if my needs had changed. When we finally sold our condo (through a WA realtor) last fall, we didn’t question our choice of realtor for the Portland market – we knew Karoline was the obvious choice for helping us to find a home.

After spending a few weeks touring homes with Wick (loving his knowledge of possible house repairs and enhancements!), we finally found the home and made an offer. We weren't sure we could afford a house, but after taking Karoline’s Homebuying 101 class, we realized the tax benefits to owning a home along with the incentives offered to first time home buyers made it not only possible, but a no-brainer.

We had a fantasy of finding a home with a big backyard that we could get married in - and it had to be close-in, not a fixer-upper, and in our price range. Karoline was able to negotiate a great deal on the perfect house for us, and we got married in our backyard the following summer.
